Community: a concept so simple, yet so complicated.

We all know what "community" means. But what does it TRULY mean?

A community is, by definition “a group of people with shared values and behaviours”.* (The Community Roundtable)

But we, at glocled, think it is so much more than that. A community is all about the people. It is more than just a group of people who buy from the same brand. They have a sense of belonging and connection with the brand but also with each other. To have a connection with your community is to have some sort of emotional link with them.

In today’s globalised world with almost limitless chances and offers, the most effective manner to build a community is through true connections. Authenticity is key.

Understanding the customers’ wants and needs is more than necessary to develop a connection with them. But you have to be careful, each individual is unique – which means their wants and needs won’t be the same. Those will change based on their values, cultures, languages and traditions…

So you will ask us – then how?

Well, at glocled, we are completely certain that Social Media is the key to develop your already-existing community, but also create new ones, in different parts of the globe. Social Media platforms play a huge part in community building. They have changed the way we connect and communicate with each other. The most important benefit of Social Media is that they can break down geographical barriers and therefore help you connect with people from all around the world.

A community is part of Social Media. And that is why you need to put your focus there. As we have said in a previous article from our blog, “let’s not forget the SOCIAL in Social Media”. To put Social Media to good use, it is important to not only create content that meets your audience’s interests but also to engage with them. The engagement should be meaningful, with positive interactions. It means responding to their comments and messages on all platforms. It also means creating a safe and positive space, where individuals can feel appreciated and valued.

Social Media is not just posting on a platform, it is the recipe to build a genuine connection with your community. And we all want that, right?

If you want to expand your reach and go global, it is crucial to understand the importance of using Social Media. Going global means understanding that for each market, the way you engage and interact with your community might change. You have to take into consideration different elements that can vary depending on the country.

So by now, you may have understood how to build a community in your local market. However, you might encounter some problems in different markets, because of many different factors, which can lead to miscommunication – and we all know that this can be a hassle. This is where glocled becomes important for you : we transform your local content so that it can work for multiple markets of yours abroad – in order to build true connections.

If you want to develop your community locally on a global scale, do not hesitate to contact us. We would be delighted to work with you!

Go for it and let’s get glocled!
